The Lee volleyball team scored its first road win of the young season as they topped Gulf South Conference (GSC) challenger Mississippi College, 3-1  on Friday evening.

The Lady Flames (2-3, 2-2) evened their conference record with the victory while the Choctaws (4-7, 0-4) are still looking for their first GSC victory.

Lee jumped out to an early lead thanks to a dominating 25-15 win in the opening set. The Lady Flames would battle back from a 20-15 deficit and avoided a match point to take the second set 27-25.

Mississippi College would claim the third set with a 25-20 victory in before the Lady Flames closed out the match with a fifth set triumph, 25-20.

Sophomore Erin Hill led the attack with 15 kills while setting up the offense with 19 assists.
Senior captain Lauren Williams was a welcomed edition back to the lineup as she came back from a preseason injury to score 11 kills and four blocks in her first match of the season.

Freshman Haley Foote chipped in a match-high 21 assists while senior libero Sarah Davis led the defense with 15 digs.

Krista Zieschang paced the Choctaws with eight kills. Holly Tupper had 28 digs while Meredith Williams added 15 assists.

The Lady Flames won't have much time to celebrate the victory as they will head to Livingston tomorrow to square off with West Alabama. The Tigers (3-6, 3-2) fell in straight sets to Shorter on Friday.  First serve is set for 3 p.m
