Helen Charlene (Letner) McElroy, 92, of Decatur, died on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at her home surrounded by family.

She was of the Baptist faith.

She was the daughter of the late Charles and Claudia (Roberts) Letner; and was also preceded in death by her husband, Raymond McElroy; son, James McElroy; daughters, Margaret McElroy and Kathy Travis; grandson, Adam Travis; great-grandson, Christopher Wilhoite; and sisters, Nellie Letner, Charlene Letner and Mary Jo Letner.

Helen is survived by sons, Carl “Phillip” McElroy, Bobby McElroy and Billy McElroy; daughters, Sue and her husband Roger Coker and Lisa McElroy; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; brothers, James Letner and Edsel Letner; and sister, Jewell England.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 27 at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Lawrence Waller officiating in the Chapel at Bowers Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, September 27. 

Interment will be in Mtn View Memorial Gardens at 11 a.m. Sunday, September 28 with the family electing to meet at the cemetery. Pallbearers are Bryan Letner, Ricky Letner, Wayne Letner, Johnathon Jones, Jeremy Jones and Eric Hornsby.

Bowers Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
