Chattanooga State Fine Arts October Programs

The Fine Arts Department will offer a variety of music, comedy and theatre events throughout the month of October in the C.C. Bond Humanities Theatre on the main campus of Chattanooga State Community College. All events are free to the public.

The Theatre Department presents its popular “Friday Night Improv” at 7:30 p.m on Oct. 3, 17, and 31. "Comedy improv featuring second year students of the acclaimed Professional Actor Training Program will act out audience suggestions guaranteed to keep you laughing," officials said. 

Former Chattanooga State and Bryan College graduate Michael Moore will present a concert featuring original works for guitar on Oct. 11 at 7:30 p.m. Next, a Clarinet Studio Recital by students of Nicholas Hartline is set for Oct. 15 at 7:30 p.m.

The Chattanooga State Concert Choir presents Joseph Hadyn’s Lord Nelson Mass and also features instrumental and vocal performances by members of the Chattanooga State music faculty and the Chattanooga Symphony, conducted by Darrin Hassevoort, during the Masterworks Concert on Oct. 22 at 7:30 p.m. 

A musical/theatrical production of Tres Vidas on Oct. 24 at 7:30 p.m, will celebrate the lives of three legendary Latin American Women: Mexican painter Frida Kahlo; Salvadoran peasant activist Rufina Amaya; and Argentine poet Alfonsina Storni. The play involves music ranging from traditional Mexican folk and Argentine tango songs sung in Spanish to instrumental works by composers such as Astor Piazzolla and Osvaldo Golijov.

No One Two Reed Trio members Cindy Solfest-Wallis on flute, Nicholas Hartline on clarinet, and Eddie McCrary on bassoon will present an evening of eclectic chamber music on Oct. 27 at 7:30 p.m.

A Piano Trio Recital by a three-piece student ensemble consisting of Briauna Neal, clarinet; Larisa Westmoreland, bassoon; and Evan Brady, piano will take place on Oct. 29 at 7:30 p.m.
