Ronald McDonald House Wants Families To Share Memories On New Website

  • Tuesday, January 20, 2015

Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Chattanooga has reached a milestone of providing a “home away from home” for families of seriously ill or injured children for 25 years. To commence the yearlong celebration, the organization invites former RMHC families to get involved through an interactive webpage called RMH Memories.

President and CEO of RMHC Chattanooga, Jane Kaylor, said “Chattanooga’s Ronald McDonald House holds a special place in the hearts of many families who have called our House their 'home' so their child could receive the best healthcare available in the region.  Their stories are our legacy of 25 years as an integral part of keeping families together when life presents some of its most difficult challenges.  We hope that every family who has been a part of the Ronald McDonald House family will share their memories, photos, and updates as we celebrate this milestone of service.”

Former families who’ve used the Ronald McDonald House or other services such as the Ronald McDonald Family Room, Ronald McDonald Care Mobile, or students who have received a RMHC Scholarship are encouraged to share their memories and thoughts on an interactive webpage:  www.memories.rmhchattanooga.com  It’s not just a webpage, but it is also a way to relive times of courage, strength, and happiness over the years, said officials. The webpage allows families to upload photos and videos, share their own connection to RMHC of Greater Chattanooga, and view other family stories.  Former families, volunteers, or anyone who has had a personal experience with RMHC of Greater Chattanooga are welcome to share.

The Ronald McDonald House in Chattanooga was built to meet a need identified by concerned parents, community leaders, medical caregivers, and McDonald’s restaurant owner/operators.  The facility opened on Nov. 18, 1990, as the 137th Ronald McDonald House in the world.  Today there are 344 Houses in 37 countries.  RMHC of Greater Chattanooga also operates the Ronald McDonald Family Room inside Children’s Hospital at Erlanger, Ronald McDonald Care Mobile, a mobile school-based medical clinic iin Bradley and Polk counties, and annually awards 40-50 college scholarships.
