Martha Elaine Davis Carpenter, 83, of Chickamauga, died on Wednesday, January 28, 2015.
She was a lifelong resident of Chickamauga and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Chickamauga. She was born to the late John B. and Irene Pearl West Davis in Chickamauga and was a graduate of Gordon Lee Memorial High School, class of 1950. Martha enjoyed being with her family and using her skills in cross stitching. She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister who will be missed.
Martha was also preceded in death by her husband, Wesley Lee Carpenter and brother Ray Dixon Davis.
She is survived by her children, John W. (Elaine) Carpenter of LaFayette and Bobby J. (Vickie) Carpenter of Chickamauga; sister, Dottie Arnold of Chickamauga; grandchildren, Josh Carpenter, Matt Carpenter and Nichole Thomas; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 30, at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5-9 p.m. on Thursday and prior to the service on Friday.
