Representative Chuck Fleischmann was sworn in to the 114th Congress as the representative for the Third District of Tennessee. After taking the oath of office on the House floor, Rep. Fleischmann made the following statement.
“It is an honor and privilege to be a part of the 114th Congress. This new Congress gives us the opportunity to prioritize Americans’ needs and achieve productive reform. I am looking forward to working with my colleagues to implement positive changes for the benefit of our country.”
Senator Lamar Alexander released the following statement after being sworn in on the floor of the U.S. Senate for his third term as U.S. senator:
“It is a privilege to serve Tennesseans in the United States Senate, and I intend to do exactly what they elected me to do: work with other senators to get a result. I am ready to help our new Republican majority tackle many of our country’s most important challenges, which include repairing the damage of Obamacare, fixing No Child Left Behind and unleashing the abundance of clean, cheap, reliable energy we need to power our 21st-century economy.”
Senator Alexander is in line to serve as chairman of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee. He is also in line to serve as chairman of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Energy & Water Development, which oversees funding for Tennessee priorities, including Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
