Mountain Valley Bank Celebrates Its 110 Anniversary With A Haunted Happy Birthday Bash

  • Wednesday, October 14, 2015

Mountain Valley Bank is celebrating 110 years of continuous business in the Sequatchie Valley this month by hosting a Haunted Happy Birthday Bash at their main office, 17114 Rankin Ave. in Dunlap.   The event will be from 12-5 p.m. CST on Halloween.

“We’ll have a chili cook-off contest with a $200 first prize, costume contest, inflatable games, carnival games, Karaoke, concert by The Banders (formerly known as dylan blake), not to mention many other prizes and giveaways. And hey, it’s free,” said Marketing Manager Dylan Roberson.  “What better way to celebrate a birthday than by celebrating with the community who helped us get so old to begin with."

Mountain Valley Bank is the sixth oldest continually active bank in east Tennessee and 27th oldest in the state of Tennessee based on established dates from the FDIC.  In 1905 the bank first opened its doors as Sequatchie County Bank.   In 2001, with the addition of a branch in Monteagle, it changed its name from Sequatchie County Bank to Mountain Valley Bank.  This was to represent its presence both on Monteagle Mountain and in the Sequatchie Valley.

Bank President Andy Billingsley said, “Our goal is to provide big bank products to our small community and as you can see, we have been doing so for 110 years.  You only stay in business this long if you are continually evolving with the times.  This birthday event is kind of like our thank you and we hope everyone will come out and celebrate with us.”

The event is free to attendees

The entry fee for the chili cook-off is $10.  Registration and contest rules are available online at www.mvbchilicookoff.weebly.com by Oct. 26.  Contact Mr. Roberson at 949-2146 or via email at dylanroberson@mtnvalleybank.com with any questions.
