Donnie Campbell, 53, was arrested on Thursday after he allegedly beat a woman he was visiting and prevented her from leaving the apartment.

The victim stated that she and the defendant had been drinking and that at some point he began to get angry with her.

She said that she felt uncomfortable so she attempted to walk outside to let him calm down, but that he grabbed her by the arm and wouldn’t let her leave.

She said that she then sat down on the couch to wait for an opportunity, but  when she tried to leave again, he punched her and threw her to the couch.

She said he then picked her up and threw her on the bed where he began choking her to the point that she thought she was going to die.

She added that he eventually stopped choking her, punched her three more times in the face, and fled on foot.

The officer noted that she had bruising on her left eye and red marks on her neck.
