LIVINGSTON, Tenn. – Livingston Academy sophomore quarterback Carter Hayes scored a touchdown in the second quarter and no one in the stadium thought it would be the game’s final score.
But, it was.
The Wildcats took a 21-14 lead on Hayes’ short run with 58 seconds left in the first half and made the lead stand up in a Region 3-4A football victory over visiting East Hamilton.
Earlier in the game, Hayes scored on an 84-yard run.
Livingston Academy’s other touchdown came on a 74-yard run by Dylan Linder with 32 seconds left in the first quarter.
Quarterback Nick Woods scored both Hurricanes touchdowns on 1-yard runs in the first and second quarters.
The Wildcats (3-4, 2-1) rolled up 344 yards of total offense, 291 coming on the ground.
Brown finished with 154 rushing yards on 26 carries, averaging 5.9 yards each time he touched the ball.
Hayes closed with 115 yards on just two carries, a whopping 14.4-yard average.
East Hamilton (4-3, 2-1) had 267 yards of offense with 202 coming on the ground. David Whiteside led the Hurricanes with 113 yards on 20 carries.
The Hurricanes attempted only eight passes, completing five for 65 yards.
Livingston Academy also stuck its ground game, throwing just six passes for 53 yards in the game.
