Dalton State Men Finish 7th, Women 11th, In Louisville Classic

Louisville, KY – The Dalton State men’s cross country team held out four injured runners Saturday and still finished seventh in the 34-team 8 K silver race at the Louisville Classic.

Spencer Head of Dalton State was the individual winner in the 306-runner field. Paul Patterson, Brody Cook, Parker Cook and Paul Schupp are all nursing injuries.

Dylan Smith (27:20.51) finished 53rd, Cole Thornton (27:50.70) was right behind in 54th, Jacob Robinson (27:26) was 59th, Dacosta Smith (27:52) was 80th and Lane Bramblett (29:30) finished 197th.

The Indiana Uniersity Run Club took home the team trophy ahead of Campbellsville, Berea, Cumberlands (KY), Spalding, Point Park and Dalton State.

The Roadrunners will compete in the NAIA Preview Friday in Charlotte, NC.

The Dalton State Lady Roadrunner cross country team finished 11th out of 44 teams Saturday in the highly competitive and very soggy silver division of the 5,000 meter Louisville Classic at E.P. "Tom" Dooley Park.

Dalton State freshman Emily Poole finished second in the event with a time of 18:45.83. She was just behind Stephani Johnston of Concordia (MI).

Dalton State coaches held Natalie Espinoza-Hensley out of the race due injury.  Mallory Edwards finished 109th at 20:39.26. Olivia Bird (20:42.39) was 117th, Jessica Brock (20:47.13) was 121st, Kuersten Gallivan (21.06.65) finished 143rd and Ashleigh Parham (21:11.80) was 151st in the 209 runner field.

Alabama State was the Silver Race winner.  The meet is sponsored by the Louisville Sports Commission. Dalton State cross country teams will compete Friday in the NAIA Preview in Charlotte, NC.
