Lee University Theatre will continue the 2015-16 season with its production of Treasure Island on Nov. 6-7 and Nov. 12-14 at 7:30 p.m. in the Dixon Center.

Treasure Island won the 2009 American Alliance for Theatre and Education Distinguished Play Award for Best Adaptation.

Dan Buck, assistant professor of theatre at Lee, will direct the production. According to Mr. Buck, the play is quite accessible, but keeps some of the language and colorful characters of the original novel.

"Treasure Island is an exciting production for us,” said Mr. Buck. “It’s one of the most action-packed plays we’ve ever done here. We even hired a fight choreographer because of the stage combat.”

Lead characters Jim Hawkins and Long John Silver will be played by Chelsea Boelter and Kyle Waters, respectively. Serena Wright and Lucy Southwell will serve as stage manager and assistant stage manager, while Catherine Wilford will serve as costume designer.

“This play will appeal to everyone,” said Mr. Buck. “It’s thrilling, touching, and loaded with spectacle. It’s going to be fun.”

Tickets are available at the box office located in the Communication Arts Building Monday through Friday, 3-6 p.m., and in the Dixon Center box office one hour prior to each show. Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for children, seniors, and students. You can reach the box office by calling 614-8360 or emailing theatre@leeuniversity.edu.
