Karen S. Walsh, LVMT, CFE, CAWA  has achieved the highest level professional designation for animal welfare professionals, Certified Animal Welfare Administrator. This designation acknowledges the accomplishments of non-profit and municipal executives across the U.S., Canada and Australia.  Ms. Walsh is one of only two residents in the state of Tennessee that who have achieved this designation.

The professional certification program, administered by the Society of Animal Welfare Administrators, distinguishes executives and managers working in nonprofit and municipal agencies for their knowledge, experience and expertise, said officials.  There are currently only 103 professionals world-wide who have achieved this designation.

CAWA candidates must meet eligibility requirements in leadership, management, and animal welfare experience and pass an exam.  The exam tests knowledge and skills in administration and management, personnel supervision and leadership, public relations and fundraising, animal care and treatment and reasoning.

“The Certified Animal Welfare Administrator credential represents a level of professionalism sought by many, but attained by a select few,” said Jim Tedford, president and CEO of The Society of Animal Welfare Administrators.  “We congratulate Karen S Walsh, LVMT, CFE, CAWA for her achievement and welcome her to an elite group of professionals who are raising the bar in the field of animal welfare.”
