AVA’s Annual Juried Members Exhibition Opens Dec. 4

The Association for Visual Arts will end its 2015 exhibition season with a juried AVA member show. This show for AVA members only will feature, by juror selection, some of the best professional and emerging artists in Chattanooga, said officials. 

The show was juried by Giang Pham.  Ms. Pham currently teaches studio foundations at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa.  Ms. Pham received her BFA in Painting and Printmaking from the University of Tulsa, Ok. and her MFA in Sculpture from the University of Florida. Prior to teaching at the University of Alabama, Ms. Pham taught at Santa Fe College and the University of Florida in Gainesville, Fla.  Ms. Pham also served as gallery director and resident artist at the 4Most Gallery in Gainesville, Fla.  M.s Pham has exhibited nationally and internationally, received grants that foster collaborative thinking and projects between Art and Science, and juried exhibitions as Visiting Artist and Resident Artist.  Ms. Pham’s works can be viewed at www.altimablossom.net. 

The winner of the Best in Show award will receive a solo show at AVA in November 2016.  Ms. Pham will announce the winner at the opening reception. 

Artists in the exhibit include Brent Weston, Ellyn Biven, Jillian Walther, Julie Turner, Khambrel Green, Lolly Durant, Mary Haberkorn, Meri Wright, Miki Boni, Myles Freeman, Patrick Ironwood, Renel Plouffe, Suzanne Mortimer, Thomas Spake, Wanda Knowles and Wes Rehberg. 

The AVA Juried Member Exhibition will be on display from Dec. 4-Jan. 2 at the AVA Gallery, 30 Frazier Ave.  There will be an opening reception on Dec. 4 from 5:30-8 p.m.  The gallery is open Tuesday-Saturday from 11 a.m.-5 p.m.   Admission is free.
