This weekend the Mocs football team will host a first round NCAA game against Fordham and the women’s basketball team will welcome the No. 1 team in the country to the McKenzie Arena and fans will get a chance to see both for just $25. Fans who purchase the ticket package will receive general admission tickets to each game.

Football advanced to the NCAA Playoffs for the second straight year and will host Fordham in the first round at Finley Stadium. The game is set to kick off at 1 p.m. The Mocs finished the regular season at 8-3 beat The Citadel in the final league game to tie the Bulldogs for the Southern Conference title. With the win, the Mocs received the automatic bid to the playoffs.

Fordham finished its season at 9-2 overall and 5-1 in the Patriot League. The Rams began the season with and FBS win over Army on the road. This will be the first meeting between the two teams.

Seventeen Mocs were honored by the league coaches and media with postseason honors and senior quarterback Jacob Huesman became the first player in league history to be named the SoCon Offensive Player of the Year three times in a row.

The women’s basketball team will take on the No. 1 team in the nation Monday night at the Roundhouse. It will be Connecticut’s first trip to the Scenic City and the first time Chattanooga has had two Hall of Fame Coaches on the court at the same time.

The Huskies, winners of 10 National Championships and each of the last three, will bring its high-powered offense to the McKenzie Arena. UConn opened the season with a 100-54 win over seventh-ranked Ohio State and will play its next two games this week.

The history between UConn head coach Geno Auriemma and Chattanooga head coach Jim Foster runs deep. Auriemma began his coaching career under the tutelage of Foster at St. Joseph’s in 1978. After two years coaching at his former high school, he moved on to become an assistant coach at the University of Virginia. In 1985, he was named the head coach of Connecticut who had posted just one winning season in school history and has been there ever since.

Shortly after becoming the Huskies head coach, he and Foster met on the court as adversaries. Foster came away with the win and won the next two as head coach at Vanderbilt. Auriemma and the Huskies have won the last three, two at Vanderbilt and one when Foster was head coach at Ohio State in 2010.

The Mocs started the season at 3-1 with wins over McNeese State, Butler and Southern Mississippi and climbed to 24th in the AP Top 25 in the second week. The Mocs proved they can hang with the top teams when they put a scare into No. 4 Tennessee Monday night.
