Hixson Flight Museum's "Ramp Rat" Returns From Being On Loan To Kaneohe Bay Air Show

  • Monday, November 9, 2015
The Museum of Flight’s 1978 silver anniversary Chevrolet Corvette known as the Ramp Rat will be delivered via commercial car carrier with its recovery vehicle to the museum hangar at the Russell Regional Airport on Friday Nov. 24, subject to shipping changes.  The car has been on loan to the Kaneohe Bay Air Show on the island of Oahu in Hawaii since March where it had been used in a number of celebrity events leading up to racing an airplane at the air show. The car will be appearing at airshows with the museum’s aircraft and on display in the museum hangar for museum tours.

"The vehicle is one of two that were made in 1978; the other was the Indy pace car.
It has been modified to demonstrate Thrust V Torque and has traveled the globe on all types of military and civilian aircraft and ships enchanting and entertaining air show spectators," officials said.
