Scenic City Chorus performed for residents at The Lantern at Morning Pointe Alzheimer’s Center of Excellence in Collegedale.
"The performance was more than just a chorus, but a lively animated and happy production with perfect four-part acapella harmony (barbershop-style) that captivated the whole audience from residents, families, volunteers and staff," organizers said.
“The gift of music in a memory care community is the ultimate benefit to residents, especially when the visual component is in place,” said Dawn Dunn, Lantern program director at Morning Pointe.
The Scenic City Chorus is a chapter of Sweet Adelines International, Inc., a nonprofit organization whose mission is to preserve the American craft of four-part, acapella harmony— barbershop-style. The SA organization has approximately 20,000+ members in choruses and quartets worldwide.
Each year the group competes in SA's Region 4 Chorus Competition which includes choruses from Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, West Virginia, Tennessee and Alabama. In 2015 Scenic City took second place in their division (AA Midsize) and third place overall.
