David Black Sr., 68, of Tunnel Hill, GA, died on Friday, February 20, 2015 surrounded by his family. 

David was born April 29, 1946 in Dalton, GA. Mr. Black was an ordained minister of the Gospel since Easter Sunday 1963. He was the pastor of Faith Christian Fellowship in Ringgold, GA for forty years. He established Eagle Honor Guard, a non-profit organization. This was to give honor to whom honor was due. A man that walked with integrity. He was a kind, sincere and devoted man whose smiling face brought joy to all those he touched through Jesus Christ. 

He was preceded in death by his mother, Eula Frances Overby Phillips; step-father, Lee Phillips; and brothers, Morris Phillips and Allen Black.

He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Brenda Black of the residence; sons, Dave Black Jr. of Dalton, GA and Jonathan Black of Nashville, TN; daughters and sons-in-law, Davina and Jeremy Baggett, of Tunnel Hill, GA and Davida and Greg Caylor of Ringgold, GA; father and step-mother, L. David and Doris Black of Alpharetta, GA; brothers and sisters-in-law, Gary and Frances Miolen of Villanow, GA, Josh and June Phillips, Marilyn Phillips of Ringgold, GA; sisters and brothers-in-law, Brenda and Johnny Towers of Ringgold, GA, Betty Barton of Rocky Face, GA, Emma and Rich Warren of Varnell, GA, Debbie and Edward Duckworth, Patricia and Joe Franklin of Rocky Face, GA, Mary and Donny Dunn of Cohutta, GA, Pricilla and Danny Wright of Tunnel Hill, GA, Carrol Hood, Diane and Wayne Bishop of Alpharetta, GA and Teresa Nix of Dalton; sisters-in-law, Joyce and Elmer Nelson of Sweetwater, TN, Kay and Richard Jaynes of Tellaco, TN, Owen and Robin Strickland of Dalton, GA, Kathy Strickland of Dalton, GA, Debbie Canales of Dalton, GA, Lisa and Rick Walker of Sweetwater, TN, Wilma and Daniel Davis of Chattanooga, Michael Strickland and Lisa Overby of Dalton, GA; grandchildren, Brandon Black, Travis Black, Faith Caylor, Aaron Black, Gabriel Davenport, Emily Baggett, Colby Caylor, Hannah Davenport, Ethan Davenport, Nolan Caylor and Haislee Baggett; aunts, Betty Cross of Lawrenceville, GA and Gladys Sky of Ringgold, GA; many special nieces and nephews; and special friends, Pat Fry, Helen and Lynn Simons, David Shields, and Teresa Nix.

An exceptional thanks to his caregivers, Tasha Johnson and Wilma Davis.

Service to celebrate the life of Mr. Charles David Black Sr. will be held Tuesday, March 2, at 3 p.m. from the Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend David Nix officiating. Interment will follow in the Colonial Hills Memorial Park Cemetery with Gary Miolen, Josh Phillips, Brandon Black, Aaron Black, Gabriel Davenport, Colby Caylor, Nolan Caylor, Ethan Davenport and Antar Strickland serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-9 p.m. on Monday, March 1.
