  • Friday, February 27, 2015

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga women’s tennis team improved to 6-1 with a 7-0 sweep at Jacksonville State today.  It is the fourth shutout win for Chattanooga this spring.

UTC opened by sweeping doubles for fourth time.  Senior Kaylene Chadwell and junior Kelsey Coots improved to 3-2 at No. 2 with a 6-0 shutout to lead UTC in doubles.

The Mocs continued their winning ways in singles action, taking all six bouts.  They won the first four in straight sets, led by freshman Samantha Caswell’s (6-1, 6-0) win at No. 4.  Junior Kayla Jones clinched the team win with a victory at No. 1.  Senior Claire Mulyadi and junior Alison Storie remained undefeated in spring play with their wins at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively.

“It was a good road win today,” stated head coach Jeff Clark.  “We battled some wind and chill, but played well in singles and doubles.”

Chattanooga is back home on Sunday, hosting UT Martin at 1:00 p.m. at the UTC Tennis Courts.  There is inclement weather forecasted for Sunday and the alternate location is the McCallie School.  Check the women’s tennis schedule page on GoMocs.com for a link to live scoring and any changes in venue.
