Marion County's Megan Wardlow Commits To Covenant College

  • Wednesday, March 11, 2015
Megan Wardlaw, a senior infielder from Marion County High School (Tenn.), has committed to attend Covenant College. By accepting the enrollment offer, Wardlaw has expressed her intent to become a full-time student and play softball for head coach Sara Russell beginning in the fall of 2015.

Wardlaw plays third base for the Marion County Lady Warriors under coaches Thomas Long and Chris Thomas. She has played with several travel ball teams including Mississippi Motion coached by Mike Odom and Matt Mayo, Team Easton coached by Billy Elliot and Alabama Kraze coached by Michael Beck.

Wardlaw's competitiveness and dedication in the classroom rivaled her efforts on the softball diamond. She currently holds a 3.4 GPA.

"I fell in love with Covenant the first time I came," Wardlaw said on why she chose Covenant. "I love the friendly people and the Christian vibe. I love the small, interactive classrooms and the Christian professors. Covenant is the perfect place for me to get an excellent education and grow in my faith."

Continued Wardlaw, "I love the coaches and the point they made to have a relationship with me. They kept in touch with me and truly care about how my softball life as well as everyday life is going. They kept coming to many of my games even after I committed. Covenant is building a program that takes softball seriously and wants to win."  She continues to say, "I am a good teammate who tries to lead on and off the field. I am competitive and courageous and have a huge desire to do whatever it takes to win."

Megan plans to major in Psychology while at Covenant in hopes of becoming an Occupational Therapist.

Russell, along with the team and her coaching staff, are delighted to have Megan Wardlaw join the Lady Scots in 2015.
