Edith Frances Weinthal died Monday morning, February 23, six days short of her 83rd birthday after a short yet very painful battle with cancer.

Originally from upstate New York Edith, moved to Lookout Mountain with her husband and two children, calling the Chattanooga area home since. Originally a homemaker, Edith was very art-centric creating her own line of clothes briefly in the early 1970s. An avid lover of theatre, music and art she also enjoyed reading and painting something she wanted to begin again before her illness.

In the late 1970s and 1980s she was an administrative assistant for some of the town’s most influential attorneys, doctors, as well as TVA and UT Chattanooga. She also spent time working at the job placement center at the Community Kitchen before retiring in 1994.

Edith was active in the church and volunteered wherever and whenever needed. While small in stature, but strong in her belief and love for her family, while she may no longer be here physically, her spirit will live on in all those she touched.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Weinthal.

She is survived by her brother, Michael (Lois) Piergiorgi of Poughkeepsie, NY, children, David of Chattanooga, Susan (Arthur) Parry of Signal Mountain, grandchildren, Jennifer and Arthur, Jr. and great-grandchildren Ikea, Abbie, and Kelsie.

There will be no service or visitation.

Arrangements are by Hamilton Funeral Home & Cremation Services. 4506 Hixson Pike, Hixson, Tn., 423 531-3975.
