More Than 1,000 Volunteers Participating In 50K Tree Day Statewide

  • Thursday, March 5, 2015
Just one week from the largest single volunteer event ever organized by Tennessee Environmental Council, organizers are encouraging homeowners and outdoors lovers to sign up to get up to 24 free trees for their property or community. Trees are available while supplies last.

"We invite folks across Tennessee to register to participate in one of three ways," said John McFadden, CEO of Tennessee Environmental Council.
"Pick up free trees for your home or business, lead a planting event in your community, or volunteer at one of our scheduled tree-planting events."

So far, more than 1,100 volunteers have registered to participate, making this the largest single volunteer event coordinated by the Council and the groups collaborating in this event.

For details, to sign up, or to request your free trees visit tectn.org/50ktreeday.

50K Tree Day is being coordinated and supported by Tennessee Environmental Council, Cumberland River Compact, Tennessee Stormwater Association, Tennessee Department of Agriculture -- Division of Forestry, Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation, Harpeth River Watershed Association, Keep Tennessee Beautiful, Tennessee State Parks, Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, Tennessee's Wild Side, US Dept. of Agriculture-Forest Service, and National Wildlife Federation.
