The Chattanooga Police Department’s (CPD) Office of Community Outreach is currently taking applications for their annual Citizens’ Police Academy. The Citizen’s Academy will begin on March 26, and applications are due no later than March 20.

During the eight week program citizens will have the opportunity to learn about the inner workings of the Chattanooga Police Department.  Instructors from CPD will cover a variety of topics including; narcotics, homicide investigation, patrol, and the SWAT team.

“It’s important that our community understands how we operate as a department,” said Chief of Police Fred Fletcher.

“Through increased knowledge, the police department and Chattanoogans can better work together towards our collective goal of safer streets.”

If you would like to sign up for the Chattanooga Police Department’s Citizens’ Police Academy, contact Sergeant Wayne Jefferson at 643-5090. jefferson_wa@chattanooga.gov.
