Federal Refugee Resettlement Is Focus Of Chattanooga Tea Party Meeting

  • Monday, April 13, 2015

Joanne Bregman, an attorney with expertise on the topic of the federal refugee resettlement program in Tennessee, will be the Chattanooga Tea Party’s guest speaker this Thursday. Her presentation will seek to answer the following questions:

  • How much control should the federal government have over your local community?
  • Should federal contractors be paid to change the demographics of your community?
  • Should our state be forced to pay for a non-mandatory federal program?
  • Is there a connection between this program and illegal immigration?

Ms. Bregman has been involved in policy work at the Tennessee legislature for a number of years focusing primarily on the constitutional relationship between the state and federal governments. Her focus on the federal refugee resettlement program is an example of the tension in the relationship between the federal and state governments and has significant policy implications across fiscal, health and welfare domains at the state and local levels.

The meeting will be held on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at The Century Club Banquet Hall, 3221 Harrison Pike (off Access Road, just south of the Highway 153-Amnicola Highway intersection, next to The Lighting Gallery).

RSVP at Chattanooga Tea Party’s Facebook page (link at ChattanoogaTeaParty.com).
