Masterful Gardener And Wonderful Cook Lived To 109

Julia M. Falls, 109, of Chattanooga, died on Tuesday, April 28, 2015.

Mrs. Falls was born May 10, 1905 in Meigs County, a daughter of John Riley Moore and Mary Caroline Couch Moore.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Raymond Falls; children, Raymond Dean Falls, Phyllis Opal Kelly, and Billy Gordon Falls; brothers, Fred, Albert, Ike, Emmett, and Leroy Moore; sisters, Dora Couch, Lena Hendricks, Nellie Combs, and Mattie Staples; and a grandson, Billy Ray Falls.

Mrs. Falls was a masterful gardener, who enjoyed sharing her bounty with others. She was a wonderful cook, who was famous for her chili. She enjoyed crocheting and reading.

Survivors include a daughter, Gayle (Doyle) Boring, nine grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 1, at Lakewood Memory Gardens, South with Dr. John Burkett officiating.

The family will receive friends at the East Chapel, Chattanooga Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday evening and Friday from 9:30-10:30 a.m.
