Ruby Falls Hosts New Event: Battle Below The Clouds

  • Tuesday, April 7, 2015

Ruby Falls will host a new event on April 25th, Battle Below the Clouds, a barbeque contest to benefit Lana’s Love Foundation which raises awareness and funds for pediatric cancer research. Twenty teams of amateur backyard cookers and smokers are invited to test their skills against similar competition. The meat is provided, while it is up to the participants to grill and have judges determine the best backyard cook in the Chattanooga area.

Three judges have been selected: Nate Harper with Sugar’s Ribs, Kenneth Johnson with Smokin’ for Jesus and Dale Forrester with Del Ray Advertising.  Mr. Harper began a career in the restaurant industry at the age of 15 and is now a manager at one of the Sugar’s Ribs.  Mr. Johnson ministers to the community preparing food, renovating homes and providing various youth activities.  Mr. Forrester has worked as an advertising agent for 28 years with his agency representing The Barn Nursery and is on the board of Lana’s Love. The judges begin selecting the winner at 5 p.m. on April 25.

Everyone is welcome to stop by the Coca-Cola Tent for free Coke Life and race ticket giveaways. Live music is also scheduled throughout the day. Check-in for cookers is April 24 from 5-7 p.m.

For rules and team signups, go to www.rubyfalls.com/bbqbattle or www.lanaslove.com. All teams receive two tickets to Ruby Falls and ZIPStream Aerial Adventure, along with aprons, T-shirts and other prizes. All entry proceeds go to Lana’s Love and are tax deductible.
