Inside And Out Is June Exhibit At River Gallery

  • Thursday, May 21, 2015

Inside and Out is the June exhibit at River Gallery, featuring works by Mark Chatterley of Michigan and Ruth Koh of Tennessee.

There will be an opening reception on Thursday, May 28, from 6:30-8 p.m. with the artists.

Review for the exhibit:

Life and earth as a state of constant metamorphosis, transience, and the impossibility of stillness informs the artwork of the exhibiting artists in River Gallery's June show Inside and Out.

Inside the gallery will be ephemeral moments painted with the liberty and expressionism of a pallet knife by Tennessee artist Ruth Koh. Like a cloud continuously manipulated by the wind, her work embraces the beauty of an instant that will never be again and captures a feeling of the freedom that accompanies the uncontrollable.

Outside in River Gallery's Sculpture Garden, and Inside the gallery, the sculptures by Michigan ceramicist Mark Chatterly embrace the duality of life and decay, one not existing without the other, while also celebrating the perpetual push and pull of being a part of the human experience. Inescapably inspired by a recent trip to India, Mr. Chatterley touches upon a range of human conditions and inner workings of the mind.

Events are free and open to the public.
