Former Baylor Standout David Helton Signs With The New York Jets

Chattanooga's David Helton has signed with the New York Jets as an undrafted free agent.
 
As a  Duke linebacker he registered 347 tackles, 14.0 tackles for loss, 4.0 quarterback sacks, 10 quarterback pressures, three pass breakups and one fumble recovery.
 
He is 10th all-time in Duke tackles, and he had three career games with 16 or more tackles.
 
Helton, who played his prep ball for Baylor, received the National Football Foundation (NFF) William V.
Campbell Trophy, given to the best collegiate football student-athlete in the nation, as well as the ACC’s Jim Tatum Award, presented to the top senior football student-athlete in the league.
 
He was an NFF Scholar-Athlete Award selection and a finalist for the Lott IMPACT Trophy. He was also a CoSIDA Academic All-America honoree during his final campaign and a four-time All-ACC Academic Football Team member.
 
Helton led Duke to three consecutive bowl appearances.
