4 Paws Pantry Provides Food For Hungry Pets

  • Tuesday, May 5, 2015

The 4 Paws Pantry Tennessee, a 501(c)3 non-profit, provides temporary assistance by working with individuals to provide food for their pets.  They operate by individual requests and with various agencies to help families during difficult times.

Food is distributed once a month for a six-month period.  Applicants must complete an application and provide proof of spaying or neutering their pet.

While pet food banks are not unique, 4 Paws Pantry Tennessee is unique, in that it is "free-standing," and not affiliated with only one organization or shelter.

In 2014, the organization's first full year with non-profit status, they gave out 3,600 pounds of dry food, assisting 90 dogs and 20 cats to stay in their homes.  In the first quarter of 2015 the organization has given out 1,388 pounds of dry food and assisted 55 dogs, 38 cats, and seven kittens to stay with their owners.  Wet or canned food has also been given out, but is a little harder to measure, as the cans are all different sizes.

With the need increasing, the organization needs help with monetary and food donations.  All donations are tax deductible, and can be made securely using PayPal.

The 4 Paws Pantry Tennessee is located at 3906 Dayton Blvd. in Red Bank.  They are open Wednesday-Friday, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
