Calvin Penney
Calvin C. Penney, 74, of Hixson, died peacefully in his sleep, on Thursday, May 7, 2015, at his home.
He was born on February 5, 1941 in Hixson and was a 1958 graduate of Hixson High School. Calvin started and was co-owner of Penney Tile Company. He was a loving and devoted husband and father and was committed to God’s way of life. He was a member of the TLC Church of God. Calvin loved the outdoors, was an avid hunter, fisherman, and gardener and the only thing he loved more than seeing a beautiful crop was spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by daughter, Sharon Genell Penney, his father and mother, Albert G. Penney and Delphia Ann Penney, his brothers, Evan R. Penney and James B. Penney.
Calvin is survived by his wife of 52 years, Brenda Richardson Penney, daughters, Lisa Carr and Janet Butler-Hinton (Keith) and son Frank A. Penney, and grandchildren, Jacob R. Butler, Adam K. Butler, Emily L. Carr, and John A. Carr; brother, Grady Penney (Charlotte); sister, Velma Penney Walker; two sister in laws, Lucy Penney and Shelby Penney and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, and 12-2 p.m. on Sunday, May 8, at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.
A celebration of life service will follow at 2 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home chapel with Pastor Clift Veal officiating. Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
