Health Tennessee Hosts Free Health Fair May 16

  • Friday, May 8, 2015

Healthy Tennessee, a non-profit organization founded by Vanderbilt trauma surgeon Dr. Manny Sethi, continues in its third year providing free health fairs to Tennesseans by announcing a health fair in Chattanooga on Saturday, May 16, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Brainerd Youth and Family Development Center.

A gymnasium full of physicians, nurses and healthy lifestyle companies will provide free health screenings, educational conversations with doctors, free health-related products and encouragement to Chattanoogans.

“We have been connecting health care providers with fellow Tennesseans for three years throughout the state and we look forward to doing the same in Chattanooga," said Dr. Sethi.  "We're very excited about the response we're seeing from doctors and health care-focused organizations from all over the Chattanooga area."

Some of the free health screenings include blood pressure checks, BMI, blood sugar screenings, eye exams for glaucoma, retina exams, hearing exams and diabetes risk assessments.

"We know that healthy citizens make for a healthy city," said Chattanooga Mayor Andy Berke.  "By working together with partners like Dr. Sethi and Healthy Tennessee, and through initiatives like the upcoming Health Fair, we can ensure a stronger, healthier city  of Chattanooga for all our residents."

Area physicians and health care professionals are invited to participate free of charge by contacting Healthy Tennessee in order to provide space and information.  Some of the health care providers that will be available are United Health Care, Amerigroup Real Solutions and Blue Care Tennessee. These providers will be available to discuss how to find the right health care plan for individuals and families.

“We really want to encourage health-focused companies and organizations to join us," said Dr. Seth."  It's absolutely free and they will have the opportunity to get in front of hundreds of local residents that are seeking help with their health care."

Admission is free.  For more information please contact Stacy Gardner at 615.898-1496 or visit www.myhealthytennessee.com
