The Southern League has announced that Chattanooga Lookouts’ third baseman Miguel Sano has been named its Player of the Week for June 22 – June 28.

Producing a four-game stretch that most players would gladly take over a full week, Miguel Sano led the league with seven runs, 10 hits, seven extra-base hits, 21 total bases, five doubles and tied for the league-lead with seven RBI. Hitting .588 last week, the San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic native added a pair of homeruns in addition to his .632 on-base percentage, 1.235 slugging percentage and OPS of 1.867.

His biggest effort came in the Lookouts 7-6 loss at Montgomery on June 26, where the slugger hit a Southern League record-tying four doubles with a run and two RBI.

Considered one of the consensus top prospects in baseball, this is Sano’s fifth career Player of the Week award. He was twice named Appalachian League Player of the Week in 2011, and garnered the same honors in the Midwest League in 2012 and the Eastern League in 2013.

The Lookouts return home on Wednesday, July 1 to face off against division rival Birmingham for three games.
