TVA Issues River Traffic Caution On Tennessee River At South Pittsburg

The Tennessee Valley Authority has issued a river traffic caution from July 27 until Aug. 1, for transmission line construction at Tennessee River Mile 417.3 near South Pittsburg, Tenn.

TVA transmission crews will be installing new transmission lines across the river approximately one mile south of the Highway 156 bridge. Work will be occurring daily between 6 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., subject to favorable weather conditions.

Watercraft operators should avoid the area or take extra precautions in the vicinity of Tennessee River Mile 417.3 and should heed warnings from TVA Police boats and other safety patrol boats that will be on watch in the area.

Marine channels 16 and 13 will be monitored by the safety boats.
