Lorena Thurman
Lorena C. Thurman, 89, of Hixson, Tennessee, died on Friday, July 24, 2015, at her residence.
She was the daughter of the late Dother and Nellie Coxey and was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie C. Thurman and five siblings, Charles Coxey, York Coxey, Dot McSpadden, Katherine Bishop and Edna Jolley.
Lorena retired from Dupont. She was an extremely gifted artist and was also talented with crafts, woodworking, sewing and cooking.
She was a member of Joy Baptist Tabernacle.
Survivors include her two children, Terry (Dolores) Thurman, of Woodstock, GA, Patricia (Mark) Rose, of Hixson, TN, six grandchildren, Kimberly Youngblood, Valarie Koonce, April Tante, Adam Blair, David Blair, Matthew Roper,10 great-grandchildren, sister, Janelle Travis and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, July 27, in the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, with Missionary Mark Rose officiating. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens in Hixson.
The family will receive friends from 5–8 p.m. on Sunday, July 26, at the funeral home.
