Julia Virginia Gentry Howell, 88, of Trion, Georgia, died on Saturday, July 25, 2015, in Oakview Nursing and Rehab Center.
Mrs. Howell was born March 2, 1927, in Chattooga County, Georgia, the daughter of the late Virgil and Ida Viola “Daisy” Walker Gentry. She was a retired textile worker, a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church, and preceded in death by her husband, Hobert (Red) Howell, daughter, Shirley Cloud, grandson, Jesse James Hathorn.
Survivors include her childen, Judy Hathorn, Joyce Goodson, Betty Suits, sisters, Doris Bryan, Jane Reed, Edna Williams, 18 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 27, at 3 p.m. at the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Robert Patterson, and Reverend Gary Howell officiating with interment in the West Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Billy Bennett, W.J. Keith, Daniel Gentry, Jeff Edge, Zachery Doll, Carl Gentry. Honorary pallbearers will be deacons and friends of New Bethel Baptist Church.
Mrs. Howell will be in state at the Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends on Monday, from 1 p.m. until the service hour.
