Dr. Mike Iosia has been named chair of the Department of Health, Exercise Science & Secondary Education in Lee University’s Helen DeVos College of Education.  Dr. Iosia is replacing Dr. Eric Moyen who has been promoted to assistant vice president of Academic Affairs.

“Dr. Iosia brings a strong foundation of first-rate scholarship and excellence in teaching to this department,” said Dr. Bill Estes, dean of the HDCOE. “He is a leader with the HDCOE, Lee University, and the broader academic community. We are thrilled at the improvements that are taking place in Exercise Science and look forward to working with Mike to keep that momentum going.”

Dr. Iosia joined Lee’s faculty as an assistant professor of exercise physiology in 2007.  Dr. Iosia came to Lee from Baylor University where he was a post-doctoral fellow in the Exercise Sport Nutrition Laboratory and also taught graduate and undergraduate courses.

Prior to pursuing his doctorate, Dr. Iosia spent nine years as a strength and conditioning coach at the NCAA Division I-A level. He had coaching stops at the University of Southern Mississippi, Auburn University, Tulane University, and spent the last year of his doctoral studies as an intern in The University of Alabama Strength and Conditioning Department.
