Dalton State head soccer coach Kerem Daser welcomes assistant Coach Rene Enang to the Roadrunner Family.

When Dalton State soccer begins practice this week, they will be under the direction of two men with long standing ties.

Roadrunner Coach Kerem Daser has a former player and assistant coach at Georgia Military on his staff.

Rene Enang played under “Coach K’ at the Milledgeville (Ga.) junior college and was team captain for both seasons. “Rene was an all-conference performer each year,” said Daser. “He is the hardest player I have worked with in college soccer.”

Enang led Georgia Gwinnett to the National Invitational Tournament in 2012 and 2013. In the process, he became the first All-American soccer player at Georgia Gwinnett. Enang then served as an assistant to Coach Daser at Georgia Military.

Daser says his assistant has been on the Georgia Revolution and Chattanooga Football Club professional teams while also assisting the Roadrunner coach with soccer camps and clinics.

“I interviewed some great candidates for the Dalton State assistant position, but I felt like Rene was the perfect fit for us at Dalton State,” said Daser. “He will one day be a top NAIA Coach.

Dalton State will begin the inaugural season with a scrimmage against Concorde Fire at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 15, and a second scrimmage against Berry College at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 19.

All Dalton State home soccer games will be played at Lakeshore Park. There is no admission charge. Seating will be at a premium. Fans may want to bring folding chairs. The metal bleachers could also be hot, so you may want to carry a seat cushion for sitting in the bleachers.

Dalton State athletics invites everyone in the community to come and enjoy Roadrunner soccer and all other teams. Women’s soccer is played at Bandy Gym on the Dalton State campus. Home tennis is at Lakeshore Park. The lone home cross country meet will be at Prater’s Mill in Varnell. The golf teams have no home contests.
