Regent Natalie Blackwell welcomed a packed room for her first meeting as Regent of the Nancy Ward Daughters of the American Revolution. Chaplain Pauline Moore did a tribute to the 9-11 tragedy and the attack on our military men here in Chattanooga. Retiring Regent Jo Hill was presented her Past Regent pin and several members were given certificates recognizing their work from the National meeting.
Regent Blackwell introduced the guest speaker and his friends. Bill Haley, from the Tennessee Aquarium had four "critters' from the reptile kingdom. The first, a box turtle, was an old hand at being displayed. He kept his head and appendages out of his shell and wiggled and waved at his admirers.
Next to take a bow was the barking frog. Mr. Haley said that people think he has puppies in his carriers. The Toad was pretty active and entertained the ladies hopping around and checking everyone out
Mr. Haley saved the best for last. The snake was not venomous but several ladies headed out the door when he came out of his pillowcase. Now many people think that snakes are fine and Mr. Haley pointed out the pluses of the corn snake he was holding. Some of the ladies got to touch the snake but others politely declined.
