Deer Population Doing Better At Enterprise South; Bow Hunt To Be Eliminated This Year

  • Wednesday, September 2, 2015

The deer population is doing better at Enterprise South and the archery hunt within the nature park will be eliminated this year, the County Commission was told on Wednesday.

Ben Layton of the TWRA said, however, the Wounded Warrior hunt will continue.

But he said it will be outside the park and will not require closing of the park. It will be in the section near Highway 58 and Hickory Valley Road.

Mr. Layton said recent hunts have been successful in trimming the deer herd and in improving conditions for the remaining deer.

The hunt by the Wounded Warriors will be Oct. 19 and 20.
