Punkin Festival Takes Place This Saturday In Soddy Daisy

The City of Soddy-Daisy invites you to come out and enjoy the fall weather and our lake setting for the annual Punkin Festival this Saturday. This park is located on Dayton Pike off of US-27 at the Hixson Pike exit.   The Soddy-Daisy Parks & Recreation Board will be on hand to answer your park questions and they are happy to tell you about Soddy-Daisy’s newest park, the Big Soddy Creek Gulf, a 278 acre wilderness preserve near the old town of Soddy.  The festival is sponsored by the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 942  and the race benefits the Ronald McDonald House.  The event schedule is as follows: 

9 a.m. Kick-0ff –  Festival begins. 

10 a.m. Start of 5K Run and 1 mile fun walk. Join us at the finish line, cheer on the runners or come by to see awards presented.  Benefiting the Ronald McDonald House. Location: Durham Street/Senior Center Area. 

Music  - Center Stage All Day. 

10 a.m.-2 p.m.  Kid’s Pumpkin Painting Contest.  Judging begins at 1 p.m with Awards given (age categories  Toddlers, 4-8yrs,  9-14yrs) Center Stage at 2 p.m. 

Please support our local farmers , businesses and crafters – vending and booths open throughout the festival. Make sure to drop by the Soddy-Daisy Parks & Recreation Board booth to learn more about Soddy-Daisy Parks and volunteer activities. The Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 942 (VVA) help disabled veterans, provide three scholarships, fund Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps at Soddy-Daisy and Sale Creek schools and provide food for Soddy-Daisy Food Bank. To learn more about the VVA or the festival contact Robert Cothran at 332-2189 or 718-1735.
