A grill fire caused damage to a Signal Mountain home on Friday evening.
At 7:23 p.m., a 911 call was made reporting a house fire at 306 Dawn St.
The Signal Mountain Fire Department responded reported heavy fire coming from the back porch and eaves of the home. The Signal Mountain Fire Department requested a mutual aid response for additional manpower. The Walden's Ridge Emergency Services, Red Bank Fire Department and Chattanooga Hamilton County Rescue responded. The Lone Oak Volunteer Fire Department was on standby at the Signal Mountain station for any additional emergency calls.
No injuries were reported, but Hamilton County EMS was on the scene for any potential injuries to firefighters.
According to the Signal Mountain fire officials, the house renter was cooking on the grill when he walked back into the house. Minutes later, he came back outside to find the grill shooting out flames and traveling up the side of the house.
Fire damage is undetermined at this time. The cause of the fire is accidental.
