UTC Football: Jacob Huesman's Unfinished Business

UTC vs. Jax State: Tonight 6 p.m. at Finley Stadium

By seasons end, UTC senior quarterback Jacob Huesman will go down as the greatest Moc signal caller in the 108 year gridiron history of the program.

An All-American in 2014, he has rings (SoCon titles), records and honors.

Yet a few things are missing.

He wants a national championship for his team and school and a win tonight against FCS Top 10 foe Jacksonville (Ala.) State will put the Mocs in that discussion.

0-2 vs. Two Opponents:  Of the schools the Mocs have played more than once in the past three years, Huesman, who has a school record 23 wins (23-11) as a starting QB, does not have a victory against Ga. Southern and Jax State.

He can eliminate the ladder from the list tonight when the Gamecocks come to Finley. Jax State beat Huesman and the Mocs, 27-24, in 2012 and 26-23 in overtime in 2014 in Finley Stadium.

One More TD Pass: Huesman’s first touchdown pass of the season will give him a school career record 53 TD tosses … currently, he and B.J. Coleman are tied with 52 each.

A Third SoCon Ring: Only twice in Mocs history has the Blue and Gold won three straight conference titles; 1927-28-29 (Dixie Conference) and 1977-78-79 (Southern Conference) … UTC has won SoCon titles in 2013-14.
