Blood Assurance Asks Public To Show Love By Saving Lives This Valentine's Day

  • Friday, January 29, 2016

Blood Assurance, will be hosting a blood drive in recognition of Valentine’s Day at all of the organization’s donor centers and bloodmobiles beginning Monday until Friday, Feb. 12. All participating donors will receive a custom Valentine’s Day themed t-shirt, along with an entry to win a gift certificate to Mellow Mushroom. The organization invites the community to spread love this Valentine’s Day by giving the gift of life to local patients in need of blood donations.

“We are so grateful to all community members who show their love and support for local patients by giving blood throughout the year,” said Charlie Callari, vice president of marketing and donor recruitment for Blood Assurance, Inc. “The need for blood is constant, and we encourage those who have never donated blood to consider making a donation this Valentine’s Day as a symbol of love to those in need of blood.”

According to America’s Blood Centers, every two seconds someone in the United States needs blood. Blood Assurance relies on more than 540 volunteer blood donors every day in order to adequately supply the hospitals serviced by the organization.

Blood Assurance thanks iHeart Media for participating in this year’s Valentine’s Day blood drive.

To be eligible to donate blood, you must be at least 17 years old (16 years old with parental consent), weigh 110 pounds or more and be in good health. Donors are asked to drink plenty of fluids - avoiding caffeine - and eat a meal that is rich in protein prior to donating.
