City officials announced the retirement of Lee Norris, Administrator for the Department of Public Works. During his career of more than 30 years in the public works arena, he held several positions and served in multiple administrations. Before rising to the department’s top post, Norris was the Deputy Administrator and served as the head of the Citywide Services division.

Mayor Andy Berke thanked Norris for his service to Chattanooga, saying, “Lee is a true public servant.

He strives everyday to deliver exceptional services at the lowest cost possible to taxpayers. I am extremely grateful for the years he spent serving our community.”

During his time in government, Mr. Norris has overseen the deployment of the citywide curbside recycle initiative, the reconstruction of multi-million dollar capital projects like the 21st Century Waterfront and bringing the City into compliance with EPA-mandated consent decree.

“It has been a pleasure to serve this City. I will always be grateful for the role I was able to play in supporting the growth of Chattanooga,” said Mr. Norris.

The City of Chattanooga plans to open the position until Feb. 12 and appoint a new Administrator by Feb. 19.
