Betty Sue Thomason, 72, of Decatur, Tennessee, died on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at her daughter's home surrounded by family.
She was born April 5, 1944 in Decatur, TN. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church of Athens. She worked at Bradley County nursing home as a nurse until her retirement in the mid nineties. Betty enjoyed painting, crafts and baking, as well as spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grand children. She always showed great affinity and kindness toward animals and strays of all kind.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Ritchard F. Thomason Sr., who passed on Sept. 8, 2016; her parents, Paul V. Isom Sr. and Greathen Robinson-Isom; her brother Paul V. Isom Jr.; and one son Paul Bryan Thomason.
She is survived by her children, Diane Adams and her husband David, of Ten Mile, Ritchard F. Thomason Jr., of Decatur, and Paula Rose and her husband Ronnie, of Decatur; one sister, Mary Casteel, of Cleveland; four grandchildren, Craig Powell, Matthew Powell, Amanda Powell and Nathan Cordell: and eight great-grandchildren.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 3 at St. Mary Catholic Church of Athens with the Rev. Randy Stice officiating. Interment will follow in Goodfield Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Rose, David Adams, Craig Powell, Nathan Cordell, Scott Shaver, and Crash Gipson.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2 at Bowers Funeral Home, who has charge of the arrangements.
The family wishes to offer their heartfelt thanks to the nursing staff at Amedysis Hospice, and a very special thank you to Brenda King and Kay Pierce who walked beside this family every step along this difficult journey.
