CHI Memorial Offers Screenings For Under-Insured Women

  • Monday, October 10, 2016

Because early detection can save lives, the CHI Memorial MaryEllen Locher Breast Center wants all women, regardless of ability to pay, to have annual breast and cervical screenings.  The MaryEllen Locher Breast Center receives grants and partners with Tennessee Breast and Cervical Screening Program to provide eligible uninsured and under-insured women with these screenings at no cost to the woman.  This financial assistance is available year-round.

A woman must meet certain guidelines to qualify for a no cost screening including:

  • Income guidelines
  • No insurance
  • Insurance does not pay for this service
  • Between the ages of 35 to 64

If an abnormality is discovered, the diagnostic work-up is also covered.

Mammography and cervical screenings are available at all three CHI Memorial MaryEllen Locher Breast Center locations in Chattanooga, Hixson and Ooltewah, and in a private suite on our comfortable mobile digital mammography vehicles.  To schedule a screening, call (423) 495-4040 or (866) 591-2254.  Women must know their doctor’s first and last name.  If a patient does not have a doctor, the staff at MaryEllen Locher Breast Center will work with her to find one.

The MaryEllen Locher Breast Center is a Center of Excellence and the only triple accredited breast center in the region(American College of Radiology (ACR,) the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC ®), and the National Consortium of Breast Centers).  It offers coordinated, comprehensive breast health care, includingmammography screening, a dedicated breast MRI, breast ultrasound, bone density, cancer risk counseling, community outreach and a wide array of support services for women’s breast health and cancer needs.
