4th Annual Running With Sasquatch 5k Set For Nov. 12

  • Monday, October 10, 2016

Ivy Academy is a Hamilton County public charter school currently in its eighth year of operation. Ivy Academy plans to host their 4th annual fundraiser coined ‘Running with Sasquatch’, a 5k Fun Run Trail Race on Saturday, Nov. 12, at 9 a.m.  Funds raised will directly benefit the educational offerings for Ivy Academy students.

The mission of Ivy Academy is to provide a quality educational program with an emphasis on scholarship, environmental stewardship, and volunteerism for all students, designed to prepare them to positively influence society and nature, said officials.

“Attendees are welcome to leisurely hike the trails, but for those who plan on running competitively the goal of the race is to out run our local Sasquatch," said Ginny Kelly, race liaison and board member at Ivy Academy.  "If this happens, crowning glory of a 'Whooping Sas' T-shirt will be given at the finish line. The race is guaranteed to be an enjoyable morning on the trails, while also supporting the great efforts of an innovative school.”

The race is sponsored by Rock/Creek, First Tennessee Bank , Scott Ferguson BB & T Huffaker and Trimble, Kelly Subaru, Benchmark Physical Therapy, Brook Textiles, and Allegra Printing.
