On Friday afternoon, Councilman Larry Grohn turned in nomination papers to run for the City of Chattanooga’s mayoral office. On Monday morning, he was qualified.
Councilman Grohn said, “Some elected officials seem to have forgotten the sacred trust that is given to them by the voters. Elected office should only be about public service. There is no place for arrogance, pride, or selfish ambition. Public servants must accept a higher standard of ethics when they assume public office.”
Councilman Grohn went on to say, “An effective leader hires competent administrators who share his or her vision. He or she then delegates authority to them so they are empowered to use their expertise. Micro-management by the current administration has proven to be ineffective. As Mayor I will work to mend broken ties within our city and create a more collaborative atmosphere. We must also create real low income affordable housing of all types, which includes home ownership. I will focus on developing a strong workforce training program to expand opportunities for more citizens in our city. Finally, the mayor’s office should be a place of openness and transparency, a representation of our community. These are goals my administration will strive to achieve.”
Councilman Grohn said he looks forward to the following months, knocking on doors and spreading his platform and solutions to the citizens of Chattanooga.
