Bus Driver Killed, 43 Passengers Injured In Tour Bus Wreck In Gilmer County

A bus driver was killed and 43 mostly elderly passengers were injured when a tour bus collided with a tractor-trailer in Gilmer County, Ga., late Thursday morning.

The incident happened at the intersection of Highway 515 and Whitestone Road.

The bus door was crashed so windows had to be cut open to free the injured passengers.

Most were taken to the hospital by ambulance, but one had to be airlifted.

The bus was on its way to a casino in North Carolina.

The highway was not reopened until after 6 p.m.
