Soddy-Daisy Wrestling To Hold Golf Tournament

  • Friday, October 14, 2016

The Soddy-Daisy Takedown Club, which supports Trojan wrestlers, is holding its Fifthth Annual Trojan Legacy Golf Classic Fundraiser on Saturday, Oct. 22 at Moccasin Bend Golf Club.

Registration and breakfast begin at 8 a.m. followed by a shotgun 4-Player Select Start at 8:30 am.

"Golfers of all ages are encouraged to come out to support the Trojans. You don’t have to be a Soddy-Daisy resident or alum to enjoy the game and to help support a great cause," officials said.

“As a club, we count on this golf tournament as our biggest fundraiser,” said SDTC Representative Lisa Wheaton. “This (fundraiser) helps out in so many ways – more than everyone realizes.”

"With wrestling set to start in late fall, the Golf Classic is but one of four fundraisers to help the team meet expenses, which present the perfect opportunity to assist with wrestler’s gear packs," officials said.

To take advantage of early bird registration with reduced rates of $300 per team or $75 for individuals, golfers must register by Monday by contacting head coach Jim Higgins at 423-605-7003 or email Higgins_james@hcde.org.

Walkups are also welcome at the event, but team fees rise to $320 with an individual price of $80 per person.

Door prizes also will be available, and lunch will be included at the end of the event. The winning team will take home $300.

Event sponsors are still being sought as well. Businesses or individuals are invited to purchase a $100 Hole Sponsorship or $50 Cart Sponsorship. Also available are $200 Hole Sponsorships that entitle the donor to a free Cart Sponsorship – a $250 value for $200. In addition, donations to the SDTC are accepted.
