Drove A School Bus For Walker County Schools

Donald Dee Ikard, 78, of Rossville, Georgia, died on October 15, 2016 while vacationing in St. Augustine, Fla. 

A longtime resident of Rossville, Don retired from Golden Flake Snack Foods after 20 years of service. After his retirement, he drove a school bus for the Walker County School system for many years.

He was a charter member of Delray Baptist Church where he was a former choir director for many years and  played the bass guitar for over 40 years.  He was  an avid Tennessee Vols fan and golfer. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. G.W. (Bill) and Helen Worley. 

Survivors are his loving wife of 48 years, Sharon Horne Ikard; brother-in-law, Steve (Susan) Horne, Ringgold; two special nephews, Stephen (Alicia) Horne Jr., Apison and Kevin (Carey) Horne, Chattanooga; two special great-nieces, Caroline and Charlotte Horne, Apison; step mother-in-law, Louise Horne, Rossville; daughter, Donna (Gordon) McBryar, Birchwood and step-sister, Glenda (Gary) Frame, South Pittsburg. 

Services will be held Friday, Oct. 21, at 2 p.m. at Delray Baptist Church with Rev. Lavonne Powell and Rev. Chris Eaves officiating.  Burial will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens with Mike Cline, Keith Thacker, Michael Johnson, John Jeffers, Leon Biddy and Cecil Bryant serving as pallbearers.   Royce Forester and Larry Watkins will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 2-8 p.m. at the East Brainerd Chapel of Heritage Funeral Home, 7454 E. Brainerd Road.
